soft petals concrete graves : the only sure thing about life is death...it's so confronting, so real. from the viewpoint of western society, it's harsh, to be feared, an ending rather than a beginning. our cemetaries are far from a place of celebration of loved one's lives, instead they hold dark and gloom...these images depict rare soft moments in a cemetary close to me...

hong kong: movement : defy on tour. one woman and her camera. no distractions. a creative odyssey. i hate the fact that the photographer is never allowed to be in their own photos unless they are self-portraits...some of these are my 'anti- self-portraits', i am proudly visible. when you have a good camera and travel, everyone wants you to take photos of them with their cameras...i am sure they end up with fab photos...but the ones others take of me, well they are always really bad (technically i mean, i am sure it has nothing to do with the subject!)...

defy aims to go beyond my own and others' expectations and perceived limitations to present a new perspective on the everyday through creative photography.
While some rules have their place, many are a hindrance to the artist...defy strives to resist all 'shoulds' and 'supposed-to's' to uncover to fresh approaches to photography as a form of expression.
